I have never been able to get game mode to work consistently. But with the latest firmware upgrade, things have gotten much much worse. I'm using an iGesture NumPad (1.5.5) with Mac OS X 10.3. Here are the problems:

- I seem to be able to get only partially into Game Mode. For example, 3-finger drag is disabled but 2-finger tap still clicks.
- Putting down 3 fingers (which should allow me to move around but not click) sometimes initiates a click, sometimes doesn't.
- Putting down my thumb with 3 fingers down sometimes initiates a click (which it should), sometimes doesn't (which tends to result in death in a shooting game).
- With pinky set to right-click, putting down 3 fingers sometimes initiates a right-click, which also tends to get me killed. Moving around with 3 fingers down can also sometimes initiate a right-click.

These problems combine to make the iGesture virtually unusable for gaming. Any ideas?

I also find (and perhaps this may be related) that outside of gaming, the iGesture sometimes reads the wrong gesture - for example, with a button4 click assigned to Expose, I sometimes get Expose activated in the middle of a drag.

It sounds to me like you're not actually getting the device into game mode. Make sure you do the palm slide (upwards?) to enable it. Just checking the box in the config app isn't enough.

I suppose that's possible...but then what am I getting the device into? It's behaving differently from how it did prior to the heel slide. And no matter how many times or how carefully I do the heel slide I still get what I described.

For experimentation's sake, turn off the thumb/index/pinky mouse buttons. Then slide your palm (from the base of your thumb to the base of your pinky) slowly upward until the mouse cursor jumps up then down. If you get this, you should be in the real game mode. Three fingers should control the mouse, your thumb should click the left mouse button, and your pinky should click the right mouse button (but you know this). Three fingers should not cause a click in game mode.

There are a number of other options, but I'm not sure what's available to the iGesture pad (I'm using the LP). It could be some kind of configuration problem, so maybe FW can help you. Maybe post your configuration XML file for debugging purposes..
