View Full Version : Internal numlock doesn't work

I have an iGesture numpad and I use my numeric pad on my keyboard alot (mainly for arrows, but for numbers as well). I don't want the numlock on the iGesture to effect the numlock settings on the keyboard.

However, if I turn on the "Toggle Numlock Internally" then the only keys that work are the arrow keys. Hitting numlock just makes the arrow keys (on 4, 8, 6, and 2) stop working, but I never get numbers. In fact, all of the pads in the block under the num lock pad stop working when I touch the numlock pad.

Am I silly to expect the pad to continue working identically after checking "Toggle Numlock Internally"? I liked the way it works if I don't check this feature, I just don't want it effecting my actual keyboard.

Thanks,

Well, ever since I tried setting the internal numlock feature the pad has not worked properly. Now, with that feature off I get the opposite problem.

When I first installed the pad, I was sure, the arrows worked if the numlock was off and the numbers worked when the numlock was on. Now only the numbers work if "internal numlock" is unchecked and only the arrows work if "internal numlock" is checked. In the "opposite" mode the pads under numlock do nothing at all.

I haven't seen any responses to this thread. Does this mean that nobody else is having this problem? Do the arrow keys on the numbers work on your pad (and the numbers when numlock is off)? Is it just me?

Microsoft changed the numberpad behavior in Windows XP. Used to be arrows only came on when ScrlLock was on. Numbers stayed on regardless of NumLock state.

With XP you only get Numbers when PC thinks NumLock is actually on. So if you want to use the 'Independent NumLock Toggling' mode, you have to go into the surface keys editor and change all the 'Numpad-0' thru 'Numpad-9' events to plain 0-9 (which won't ever produce arrows).

Mr. Touch,

Thanks for the reply, but I have no idea what you are talking about.

My numeric keypad does not change functionality depending on the Scroll Lock key (only the Num Lock) and I have never heard of that kind of functionality (I run Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000 server, and Linux and the keypad works identically across all of these).
