View Full Version : iGesture receiving interference?

I've had my iGesture Pad for two years or so now and use it all day, every day at work. I've noticed occasional misbehavior of the pointer - it'll jump across the screen, or stop responding, or start typing my signature to the screen at odd times.

Recently a coworker installed speakers for his computer, speakers which due to the arrangement of the office are less than 2 feet away from my iGesture pad. We now get to hear the occasional buzzing caused by the proximity of several cell phones and a Blackberry laying about in our office.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but my coworkers and I have noticed that when this buzzing is loudest and most annoying, my iGesture pad seems to stop responding, or else the cursor starts dancing across the screen. Could it be receiving interference from all the wireless devices in my office?

It certainly sounds like electromagnetic interference. Have you experimented with moving your Pad somewhere else? Perhaps just one or two feet away will make a difference.

In my experience, GSM phones will cause a fair amount of interference with some cheaper computer speakers. The same interference will cause a FingerWorks touchpad to "go nuts", cause random cursor movements and spurious keyboard output, in the case of the keyboards.

Thanks. I thought maybe I was crazy for drawing the association. There are phones all over the place and I'll see if I can move them a bit further away. :)
